The all-American, 60-year-old Denny’s Diner has managed to attract a new generation of patrons by embracing the absurdity that is Tumblr. By giving its social media team the freedom to create content that’s creative, timely, and downright bizarre, it has created an atmosphere that breaks through the corporate clutter and integrates seamlessly into Tumblr’s culture of creating and sharing its own content along with its fans’ content.

In partnership with EP+CO, Denny’s social channels were always on and serving up content 24/7. By keeping a pulse on trending and real-time conversations, they developed an authentic brand voice — talking to our followers instead of talking at them. I collaborated with the social team to help tap in to memes, commenting on cultural events, and engaging new audiences without excluding or alienating our existing followers.
