Taking Inspiration from Vintage Arcade Cabinets
Denny‘s and Atari: A Remix of Retro Artwork
The graphics on the 80s arcade cabinets were bold, bright and colorfully imaginative. The most popular arcade cabinet designs were pure works of art, with picture perfect depictions of the game they were promoting. The graphics often featured larger–than–life characters, vibrant explosions, and thrilling backgrounds that created a vivid atmosphere for gaming. On the sides of the arcade cabinets, the designers incorporated color and perspective to add realism. The vivid details, such as small inlaid patterns, patterns of light and shadows, and layers of color, continue to be appreciated today. These iconic graphics and designs are integral to the retro charm of the 80s.
The Centipup art is a humorous parody of the classic arcade game, Centipede. The art features a friendly pup instead of a menacing centipede, with the pup standing guard over a garden of fried eggs instead of the mushrooms of the original game. The side panels, front panel, screen overlay, and gameplay instructions mimic the original game perfectly, adding humorous touches like a pup for the centipede and a garden of puppy-friendly food items instead of the hostile mushrooms of the original game. The Centipup art is a fun and whimsical twist on the classic game while still providing the same challenging experience.
Denny‘s experienced the highest sales and restaurant traffic seen since 2006, with over 10 million impressions generated and nearly 500,000 app downloads in the first three months, making it the most successful partnership in their 65-year history.
